A builder-first approach.
The HoneyBadger DIY LA-2A is based around the celebrated 1967 optical limiter signal path. Its tube amplifier and light-dependent gain reduction create warm, forgiving movement that is especially at home on vocals and bass. The project is approachable with basic soldering skills when built carefully from the supplied bill of materials.

Musical movement
Optical gain reduction follows the signal with a naturally program-dependent response rather than forcing every performance into the same envelope.
Tube character
The amplifier path adds the density, softness and dimensionality that made this style of limiter a recording-room standard.
